This weekend, Burning Man catches fire again in NY as the city gathers for New York Decompression…and this issue of the JRS comes to you from the sky* as this “rabbit” heads out to lend a hand. (Plus, two of the rabbits get to talk face to face instead of IM, for a change… hi Cabe!) We hope that we’ll be seeing many of you at the event in Queens on Saturday (note the venue change – see below for more info) and Ladybee’s National Arts Club presentation on Friday.
For those on the other side of the country – the one that’s rapidly disappearing on the horizon behind this plane – the Burning Man Winter Town Meeting is planned for December 14 in San Francisco. And one thing you’ll want to know if you’re planning to create some driveable art to share in 2004 – ALL Mutant Vehicles will be required to pre-register before the event, so please share this information far and wide!
So, lean your seat back and pop the traytable down, and thanks for flying Air JRS…

WINTER TOWN MEETING IN SAN FRANCISCO DEC 14TH
Winter Town Meeting
12:00 PM to 3:30 PM (doors open at 11:00)
Sunday, December 14th, 2003
Our Winter Town Meeting is a moderated question and answer forum focused on tackling the areas of concern and interest of our community. We will webcast our event for those that can not be with us in person. Questions will be taken live from the audience and off the internet. The Burning Man Senior Staff and Board look forward to brainstorming with you about our future. Send questions to be submitted in advance to: townmeeting2003. If you plan to be there, please bring food to share!
The meeting will be at the San Francisco County Fair Building Gallery, located at the entrance to the Strybing Arboretum at 9th Ave and Lincoln Ave, inside Golden Gate Park. Public transportation is recommended. Muni: 16AX, 16BX, 71, 71L, 44, N-Judah, 43, 6, 66 are all within two blocks. Due to weekend street closures in the park, parking will be difficult on Sunday.

DMV WILL REQUIRE ART CAR PREREGISTRATION FOR BM 2004
Hi all —
Jewelz and the DMV Hotties here, saying a big THANK YOU to all of the Mutant Vehicle** creators who give so much to Burning Man. The DMV process continues to evolve, and we appreciate your cooperation and support as we navigate (no pun intended) the balance between vehicles and pedestrians on the playa.
The DMV has been looking at some Mutant Vehicle issues, and we are making changes in terms of licensing criteria and preregistration. One thing that we know will change and we want you to be aware of right away is that beginning in 2004, Mutant Vehicle preregistration is mandatory! Spread the word; let folks (especially your luddite friends) know about this.
More information on licensing criteria, the registration process, and deadlines to be met will be available before the end of 2003. We’ll update Burningman.com and will alert you through a JRS and the dmv-announce list when we’ve got complete information to share with you.

LADYBEE TO SPEAK AT NATIONAL ARTS CLUB IN NYC NOV 21
Christine Kristen, aka LadyBee, Burning Man Playa Theme Art Curator, will be speaking at “The Art of Burning Man” at the National Arts Club in New York City on Friday Nov 21st at 8pm. PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF NEEDED OF GANESH EXPRESS
Johann Wolf (from Kiev!) writes: “We are desperately looking for any pictures of our copper boat art car “The Ganesh Express.” It is a kind of DaVinci-looking, golf cart powered boat covered in copper with red and purple sail-flags and a plasma orb on the bowsprit.
This boat belongs to O.B.O.P.s playdium camp and was usually parked (rather un-usually parked) near the God throne part of our camp just off the Esplanade around Literal. Not far from our Black Rock Bell – Talk to God phone booth.
We really need a full shot of the boat in its full glory, around sunset would be great, but anything would be appreciated.
Please if you noticed this rather small and unassuming art car, let us know (especially if a camera was involved).

SAN DIEGO DECOM – A SUCCESS, BUT A BITTERSWEET ONE
During the Afterburn (SD Decom), we put out two big water jugs to hold donations. One was carried around (Jones’ idea), the other was tied to a pole (my idea 🙁 ). The one on the pole had writing on it, explaining that the donations requested were to cover the costs of the porta potties, electrical needs, and the remainder would go to the fire victims.
The response was very generous. We gave Viagra his money back (about $200.) that he had fronted for the porta potties, we covered Neil for $50 toward electrical re-wiring supplies he had to use to make it possible to have bands, dj’s and a circus off the house circuits.
Unfortunately, as we looked for the jugs, we found the one that had been tied to the pole was gone! Someone must have thought that jug full of money was theirs and accidentally untied the ropes to get it off the pole, then packed it in with their stuff, in an effort to ‘leave no trace.’ I’m sure they’ll discover it when they un-pack, see the writing in magic marker on the jug that says it’s for fire victims relief, and scoot it over to us as soon as possible. I am certain no one stole that money, because it would be unbearable to think of the bad karma they would suffer!
