Ganesh in Limbostan

Ganesha, the Hindu god of overcoming obstacles (among other attributes), invokes the unconscious resources of the psyche to visualize and actualize positive change, i.e., the realization of hope; change that originates in the clarity of the imagery in the unconscious mind during meditation or similar states of consciousness. The Wizards of Id are here to help all who desire a shot of tequila to reach perfect clarity as to where they are and where they are headed on their journey; so, tell us, or record in our journal, anything that reflects your mythic journey of transformation at Burning Man – a recent dream, a story that happened after hitting the playa, an insight gained, or anything that reflects the path your individual psyche is taking through the collective experience of Burning Man toward your purpose in being here. Your reward? A shot of tequila and good comraderie. When? Cocktails at 4:00 p.m. Wed. – Sat. Also, join us for a performance by “Free Peoples” on Friday night. Free Peoples is top shelf musicians playing an over-the-top dance-able blend of rock, jazz and bluegrass. They are superb.

Geisha Palace

You Are Your Own Geisha!
The plush Geisha Palace is the place for you to be just that…in a friendly, intimate (but not sexual) vibe. Free sake helps. Extraordinary close-up magic show by Mio daily Tuesday – Friday from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.

Geisha Palace is a Japanese-themed silk and velvet lined chill-out space, created by gaijin & non-gaijin alike, it is air-conditioned by day and heated at night. Self serve Sake and wraped Japanese snacks are available at all times.

Genital Portrait Studio

Genital Portrait Studio offers a variety of genital portrait styles to suit your needs. Our highly trained photographers are skilled in traditional, as well as modern genital portrait styles. Your session may include a number of props and positions, and of course, fluffing is available. We are also the playa’s premier provider of Genital ID Cards.

Gigsville

Gigsville originally started as the whirligig village at Burning Man in 1998. Since then, this community of over 300 people has become an active, year-round group of fuckos dedicated to the finer points of jackassery and better living through death. All over the world you will find citizens of Gigsville, but their primary hangouts are in Northern and Southern California.

This year in Gigsville, we will see the return of the legendary Uber Man, the Van-B-Que, several art cars, cowbell jackassery and an over-abundance of unnecessary underpants. The Van-B-Que, Gigville’s patented fire pit of wood burning glory, is always burning at night and is a great place to stop and get warm and get to know some of the finer mutants within the village. Friends are always welcome. Please, no wagering and no knife fights.

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can…come to Gigsville.

Gnome Camp

The mission of Gnome Camp is to liberate garden gnomes from their humble dwellings, take them out into the world and show them a good time. We will be bringing 100 gnomes to Burning Man for adoption, and ask their caretakers to document their adventures with a disposable digital camera that we will provide.

God Box

All those seeking Mystical Revelation are called forth to supplicate themselves before the great and wonderful MYSTIC TOAD. Take the sacred oath of secrecy, purge your spirit by writing in the book of confessions, be purified by the ritual priests, and enter deep within the LAIR of the MYSTIC TOAD, wherein lies the mysterious GOD BOX. There you will open the GOD BOX and reveal the secret contents within, coming face to face with the ULTIMATE REALITY OF ALL EXISTENCE, SPACE, TIME, AND BEING! Come and revel in the most profound of experiences on the Playa.

Gròóville

Grooville will have many projects and vehicles on hand to delight and entertain our many guests. The centerpiece of the camp is our dance studio and aerial rig, collectively known as Groov Studio. We will also host visitors in our central chill space.

Groov Studio
Back for its second year, the Gròóv Studio is a learning, practice, and performing space for the kinetic arts. We will be offering yoga, dance, juggling, and other movement classes during the day and swing/salsa/waltz/tango dances in the evenings. A performance at the studio will feature the talents of Gròóv Studio teachers and other artists. Physically, the studio is a large shaded space with a vinyl floor, possibly the best dance surface on the playa. Classes to date: yoga, belly dancing, samba, African, ballet, Capoeira, three-ball juggling, contact juggling, meditation, swing, salsa, tango, and waltz.

If dancing on the ground or around the pole (see Stripper Pole below) isn’t exciting enough for you, we’ll teach you how to dance in the air! Check out our aerial rig and take a lesson on the trapeze, rope, or tissu. Or come by in the evening and catch our aerialists in action! You can’t miss it – it’s the 18′ metal archway with sexy people dangling from it!

Scherezade
It’s story time! Come read, listen to, or tell your favorite short story. We’ll have a pile of books to choose from, or you can bring your own. Or why not tell us that tale about your traffic accident in a parking lot in Japan? We’ll be taking over Groov Studio during the hottest part of the day, and returning at night, in time for a little something before bed (not necessarily safe for children, if you know what we mean)

Portable Blacksmith Shop
Gròóville will feature its very own outdoor blacksmith shop for building last-minute art wrought in iron and enacting timely repairs to stripper poles, mutant vehicles and time machines. Well stocked in grapple grommits, round squares and frammikinn pins, the blacksmith shop will be there 24×7 – or whenever we feel like it – to keep Gròóville running like the finely tuned machine it is.

Multi-Person Pogo Stick
In an effort to create balance, energy, and cooperation, we have created a multi-person pogo stick. Imagine a normal pogo stick with a much larger foot, a disk at the bottom to stand on, and a steering wheel instead of handlebars to hold on to. This human powered vehicle may not travel far, as it will require a lot of teamwork to simultaneously balance, jump, and lean in order to make the pogo stick travel. Still, watching the attempts should be hilarious. The pogo stick will be designed for 2-4 people. A large disk at the bottom will keep the stick from tipping over too far during use and crushing the person on the bottom. A decorative umbrella will extend out the top of the pogo, making the “vehicle” beautiful, while providing shade for those using it or just sitting in its shadow.

Stripper Pole
The famed Spinning Stripper Pole of Lingerie Planet returns! Come shake your booty on this beautiful, sturdy, and fun device. Unlike most on the playa (or anywhere, really), this pole is on bearings, which allows for even the most rank beginner to do impressive spinning moves. This year it may also have a locking device that will allow the pros to show off their stuff without the pole spinning on its own.

The Beacon of Beckoning
This bright beacon will pierce the sky, allowing everyone nearby to find their way home. The beacon will be 35ft tall.

Strobe
Imagine a spinning, vibrating string, frozen in motion by light. This
project consists of a 10′ long string spinning. The lights and motion
form beautiful shapes and patterns. This is a fun use of persistence of vision, with the perception of the
string being altered by the timing of the lighting. The basic footprint
will be 10′ long by 10′ wide and about 20′ tall. The string will be
elevated to keep moving components out of the reach of the judgment
impaired.

We will also have two art cars to thrill our guests:

GROP – Great Rat of the Playa
Vehicle is built on a 3-wheeled electric golf cart frame. Total body length is about 8 ft including the head; with the tail, total length is about 16 ft or so. The legs, haunches, and head are built of plastic tubing, wood, and chicken wire with a covering of handi-wipe/elmers glue composite with fur overcoat. Lighting is provided by cold cathode lights, LED arrays, plasma ball eyes, and EL wire. The major change for 2006 will be the addition of more body lighting (in blue) and the headlights integrated into an acrylic cranial implant on the head.

Nomad Lounge
The Nomad Lounge is a low-key transportation service designed to encourage social lounging. Cushions, carpet, windbreaks, and a roof make a comfortable area for 8-10 people to relax during late nights on the playa. Seating is arranged to encourage conversation, and downtempo music creates a chH

Gypsy Witch Camp

Our camp consist of experienced burners who would like to provide you with a community to camp with, explore with, eat salsa and drink tequila with. If you are a first timer, lone traveler or are just looking for a welcoming group to “burn” with, you are welcome to join us. We have fresh homemade Salsa at Six and fresh cut limes for Tequila at Ten.
