New Amsterdam Village

In 1625, the colony of New Amsterdam on Manhattan Island was founded
by the Dutch, who took as settlers anyone they thought could perform
the necessary work to make the colony a successful enterprise. In 2006, the
Village of New Amsterdam was founded by three drunken theme camp leaders willing to take on anyone they thought could perform the necessary work to bring a new village to Burning Man. The result is a hodgepodge of gnomes (Gnome Camp), aliens (Alien Underground and the Hot Alien Lounge), craftswomen (Atelier Rusette), lovers (Smoochdome) and big evil corporate executives (The Big Evil Corporation, Inc.), all thriving symbiotically in the nexus of the past and the future.

Nexus

Nexus: A place to party. The spot to get your groove on, and then come back to later, and then realize that you probably shouldn’t have left in the first place. It’s on this year, we’re dialing it in, turning it up, bringing the noise, and of course blowing it up nonstop. Beats and freaks that will put a smile on your face and a bounce in your step. Santa Francruz knows hows to party, so come join us won’t you? We’d love to have you. Side stage talent show performances booked daily, email kawonkawon(at)yahoo.com or stop by the camp for details.

Nose Fish

Camp Nose Fish returns in 2007 to present the Biscotheque, a 2v dome where participants may receive biscotti when they visit nearby Espresso Camp in the mornings, and relax in a quiet space for light conversation and music. Well have our new "Biscodeck" (a deck on top of the Biscotheque dome where you can relax and look out over the city) and in the evenings we’ll have the interactive MEZ video screen.

NucFam - the Nuclear Family

Black Rock City’s favorite dysfunctional family is back in 2006! Come sit a spell with us in the “Family Room” to unwind from the chaos of the playa and tell us your stories. If you are lucky, you may see the Fam Fatales spinning, hooping or eating fire.

Nuc Fam will also be the landing zone for the infamous “Random Bistro” mutant vehicle. If you wish to board the Bistro, you will need to speak with the Mai’tre de and participate in a random game. Will you dare spin the ball of destiny and risk your fate to Fear or Hope? Do you have the moxy to tempt the “Vision Quest roulette” and let playa magic guide your journey? The Bistro serves up destiny and desire, not stinking cheese and frivilous cocktails!

NucFam welcomes old friends (and camps) while always looking for new freaks to amuse us. This is not you typical family reunion.
