Darkwad Patrol

The mission of our theme camp is to increase nighttime safety in BRC by reducing the number of injuries and damage caused by collisions with inadequately lit burners, bikes and structures. To accomplish this mission we gift lights to dark burners and their bikes and engage in community outreach efforts to promote the importance of remaining visible at night.

Darkwad Patrol hosts lighting workshops about the many ways to accessorize your bike and body with lights. We also provide a 24-hour Light-Share Drop Box where burners can gift lights to fellow burners and dark burners can take the lights they need.

Dead Hand Path is founded on the idea that now is a pivotal time for humanity, where we stand on the precipice of an incredible future or total annihilation. The decisions we make today have consequences for the world in a way that people of the past or future may not even be able to imagine; that this is a sort of “dream time” for the world. Confronting this is a difficult thing and we need to put effort into maintaining our essential humanity as systems around us shape our lives more and more. The name comes from the Soviet “Dead Hand” system, which was set to automatically respond to a nuclear attack with a second strike, ensuring total annihilation with the decision ultimately placed in the hands of machines.

Deaf Granny's Kitchen

Meet Deaf Granny, a little old lady inhabiting a vintage 1950s kitchen. She’s serving up goodies (and some baddies) within a semi-improvisational interactive performance art project. Sit in her kitchen and interact with her and the satirical stereotype characters that surround her. Together, we will humorously confront and break down your preconceived notions and lovingly draw you in as a participant actively engaged in your own awakening to concepts and forms of visual communication and particular ways of being exemplified by Deaf peoples. Sometimes we will order pizza. Other times we have shots to share. And don’t miss our movie nights! Oh, just come. We’ll mess with your head and everyone will have a grand time!

Members are enthusiasts of fire performance arts and ultralite human flight, and will be hosting various workshops around the theme of fire, flight, dragons, and knights. We also have a bar!

DragonCamp Armory

This is a HIGHLY participatory workshop where women will learn to make and decorate their own sexy Armor Bikini to keep, wear, and share on the Playa. Recyclable aluminum is used to hand hammer a custom fit costume using traditional hand metal working techniques used for props in films and television. Patterns are provided in a variety of sizes. The thin sheet aluminum is cut by hand and then pounded into custom form at our special work stations. When done, the armor can be decorated by the girls with various baubles, bangles and jewelry bits which we supply. Bikinis are secured with sturdy thong.
Animatronic Dinosaurs and Dragons provide a lively background.

Dream Inn

The Inn is a self-serve luxury glamping relaxation space open to all 24/7. It is a fully carpeted tranquil environment with calming ambient music, outfitted with a pillow-topped daybed, a comfortable seating area, various bibelots and amusements, a curated selection of snacks and cold drinks, and a jewelry chest from which to select a memento of your short stay at the inn. The inn has a calming aesthetic of creamy colors and natural textures such as wood, bamboo, rattan, jute, cotton, wool, fur, and raw metal. The interior is softly lit at night by a multi-tier chandelier and table top lanterns. We have a shade tent annex available for small events/workshops.

DuanesWhirld is enjoying our 17th consecutive year en Playa, with many of our campers trekking from Vermont.

Our camp supports the mutant vehicle Fluffy — accessible public transit masquerading as a cloud wafting across the playa. A wheelchair lift and Braille rails accommodate that many more Burners into the artcar experience.

We enjoy mass-gifting our fellow Burners with Deep Playa Beer Delivery (quenching the late afternoon thirst in the heat) and ‘Smores (late nights in deep playa to ease the chill with warm gooey treats.) Each of those gatherings generates micro-community among those Burners brought together.

Dusty Mule Saloon and Playground

The vibe of belly laughs all day everyday. We have a large colorful dome with a welcoming bar and refreshment offerings with a daily music theme. We serve boozy beverages and a few iced non-alcoholic ones. Interior games include Yard Yahtzee, Pin the Man on the Ass, Truth or Jenga. We have smaller domes connected by tunnels for an adventure. Our playground boasts a wide variety of interactive games to entertain the masses and bring forth maximum laughter. We have large scale Connect 4, Rubber Ring Toss Your Cookies, Shut Your Cornhole, LED Tetherball, What Goes Up Must Come Down (hydraulic teeter totters) and other carnival games. Camp Campy Camp aims to create the CAMPIEST experience at Burning Man. Imagine summer camp created by RuPaul with Josephine Baker and Alexander McQueen as the head Camp Counselors. A summer camp where you can explore the realities of Burning Man by asking: how do we collectively construct our reality here?

At Camp Campy Camp, we celebrate everyone in their finest form. We honor the LGBTQ+ BIPOC originators of drag and ballroom and our goal is to create a space akin to what ball culture has done – a space where anyone can be themselves, a space to fully celebrate each person for who they are.

Our offerings will include traditional camp activities with a twist (merit badges, friendship bracelets, knitting, ropes course). Stop by any afternoon Tuesday-Friday to see what we have on deck!

Born in the style of a 1940’s “Negro Juke Joint” featuring music, games, and drinking. Passersby’s relax and socialize after a hard day in the fields (Playa) in a multi-cultural and sexually diverse adult space. Activities will open viewpoints, perspectives and make new friends. When the sun is just above the mountains, we toast the sunset and welcome the night. We play games with a mature and imaginative twist. As with all Juke Joints, cards, parlor games, and themed gatherings occur and conversation informal. In a world of hate speech and some loud shitty people, we bring love and unity. We mix cultures into a new and ethnically comingled environment celebrating similarities, loving differences and learning from each other. We work hard to build a better Burningman community.
