2020 Theme Camp Symposium is Now Fully Virtual
Updated March 12, 2020
Burning Man Project has been closely tracking updates around the outbreak of COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution and care for the wellbeing of our community, and in accordance with the City of San Francisco’s recommendation to postpone or cancel large gatherings over the next couple weeks (more on that below), the Theme Camp Symposium will be a 100% virtual experience this year. We will not meet in person.
The event will still take place as a one-day virtual conference on March 28, and we will still provide much of the fantastic content theme camp organizers have prepared. We also look forward to making as much of the content as possible available after the event.
Please check this page again on March 23 for more information about how you can participate in our virtual TCS. We will provide a schedule, description of presentations/workshops, and other instructions then.
We were already planning to live-stream portions of the event, and we are now developing a more robust online experience. While the in-person symposium had a 500-person capacity in San Francisco, there is no limit to the number of viewers for our online alternative and participants can join from throughout our global network. We hope this change can enable even more camps and people to participate than an in-person symposium. We look forward to seeing you online on March 28!
Who Can Attend?
Leaders from Black Rock City’s theme camps, villages, camps in villages, mutant vehicle camps and art support camps! If you’ve attended the Symposium before, consider who else in your camp’s leadership could benefit from this event.
