FIRE ARTS FESTIVAL FIRE ARTS FESTIVAL WHAT THE HECK?
The Maid Marian-Jack Rabbit has come out of seclusion to let everyone know about some fun, fabulous and important upcoming events. This is your ALL EVENTS JRS. I’m MOST excited about the FIRE ARTS FESTIVAL which is being presented by Burning Man and the Crucible crucible.org from Wednesday, July 7 to Sunday, July 11. It’s a “holy-shit” kind of event/s, with Thursday 7/6 night being a gala fundraiser (see below) for the Black Rock Arts Foundation blackrockarts.org and the Crucible. If you thought you might make a trip to SF this summer, this is the weekend to do it. BUT… before I tell you more about that event…
First all: a friendly reminder. If you have a theme camp fundraiser, please use the Burning Man year-round calendar. The JRS has a world-wide audience, and we just isn’t able to post all the event requests we receive.
burningman.com/calendar/yearround/month.php
Bay Area folks, subscribe to the sanfrancisco-announce list via: sanfrancisco-announce-subscribe where we DO post Bay Area events including Theme Camp fundraisers and other miscellaneous events as suits our whim. Thanks to the ever-lovin’ Bex for sitting at the helm of this announce list.
THIS WEEKEND: JUNE 25-27.
For instance, if I was looking for something to do this weekend (June 25-27) A quick visit to the Burning Man web site’s Year Round Calendar (see above URL) would yield info on events in Los Angeles with a Dream Circus, or in Philly, or in my favorite city San Francisco with this Saturday’s Theme Camp fundraiser with Spaghetti Western and Kooshkingdom kooshkingdom.com which will have DJs from Space Lounge and Space Cowboys… and speaking of Space Cowboys… if you were out at the Temple of Gravity on Thursday night last year… when their mobile sound system came by… ah… Anyway, I’ve included some basic info on this last one below.
JULY 2-4
NO problem finding something to do over July 4th weekend either! Those of you on the volunteer-announce@ list and the dpw-announce@ already know about the big work weekend for the Project. (one can get the inside scoop on volunteer and paid opportunities by filling out a volunteer questionnaire and being placed on the volunteer-announce@) LA, San Diego, So. Cal. folks have a Regional Pre-Compression event as a July 4th option la-burningman.com/burn-4th-info.htm with some info below. Or NYC folks can attend a fundraiser for a Burning Man bound artist wolflambmusic.com/psi.
JULY 7-11
Not ONLY is there the Fire Arts Festival (July Wed. 7- Sun. 11) AND Black Rock Arts Foundation/Crucible gala fundraiser (Thursday July 8th) in Oakland, CA. See MORE info below and blackrockarts.org or crucible.org OR burningman.com !!! But there’s also the Awe to Action Conference awetoaction.org in San Francisco which will include a conversation between John Perry Barlow and Larry Harvey moderated by writer Eric Davis. Other burners involved are mentioned below including Brian Behlendorf, Marian, Harley and ActionGrl. North Bay (Calif.) burners have a one-day Burning Man Film Festival as an option on Sunday, July 11 join their announce list at: northbay-announce-subscribe.
