TWO in ONE week? What’s with you, Rabbit? Yes yes, we can indeed read your mind. Alas, we had a flood of impending, time-sensitive, you- might-want-to-participate-in-this kinda posts, and we wanted to make sure you (dear reader) had ample opportunity to attend some cool upcoming events. Plus there was some other stuff pokin’ it’s head out of the old inbox that we figured we’d put in here too, since we’ve got your attention and all.
Anyway, there’s a bunch of Decompression events coming up, including Seattle (yay Seattle! We love Seattle! And its Burners!), Southbay, Ireland, and the Southeast. So if you want to get your Decom on, plenty of opportunities await you still. Read on for deets.
Gotta say, it’s a pretty amusing time of year for Burners to go out and do their regular day-to-day clothes shopping, since the retailers often assume you’re shopping for Halloween. Heh. Pure comedy, people. We hope you all have a good Halloween, and get on out there and show ’em what creative costuming is all about. You guys are the pros, after all.

We invite you to come celebrate with over 25,000 square feet of theme camps, interactive displays, fire spinners, DJs, live music and performers, dance, art cars, grilled cheese, suspension rigs, small blimps, neon rainbows, and any other damned thing we can think of. Imagine one city block of Burning Man being transported – streets and all – into a big empty box – and you’ve got an idea of SeaCompression.
Sponsored by Ignition Northwest and produced by the Seattle arts community, SeaCompression is Seattle’s annual Burning Man decompression party, in which celebrants of many subcultures come together to reminisce about the old year and begin counting the days until they return home to the playa. Whether you’ve been to Burning Man or not, SeaCompression is a vibrant, exciting celebration, packed with exotic entertainment and smart, funny, beautiful and cleverly dressed celebrants.
The proceeds from SeaCompression go to help fund large scale art projects, such as Umbrella Favella, Jake the Giant Robot Head, Groovik’s Cube, and B/IAS – the Burien Interim Arts Space.

DREAMYOURTOPIA – BERLIN, GERMANY – NOV 7
Our friend Dadara writes:
“After previously issuing Dream Passports at Burning Man, Centraltrak in Dallas and the Lowlands festival in the Netherlands, the Department of Dreamland Security will protect the border between Reality and Fantasy for the last time on the 7th and 8th of November in Berlin.
This time it won’t happen in the desert, but inside an old swimming pool, the Stattbad Wedding!
And this time the evil Dream Regime will start to crumble when on the second day the whole Checkpoint will be taken over by graffiti artists, altering it beyond recognition. And eventually the Walls between Dreams and Reality will be smashed to pieces on midnight of the 8th of November, freeing Dreams again.
This will happen exactly 20 years after the Falling of the Berlin Wall on the 9th of November 1989.
More info at http://www.dreamyourtopia.com A recent presentation about the project in Berlin: http://pechakucha.de/webplayer/PK_15/07_Dadara.html
I spoke with a lot of German Burners as well as the regional contacts and they’ll turn the celebration into a gathering/decompression for them, as well as a group of Dutch Burners joining for the event and even the first Burner from the USA announced today by skype that he bought a plane ticket. The combination of a Burn and historic event might be something pretty special………..
Yours Dreamingly
Dadara”

IRISH DECOMPRESSION – MALAHIDE CASTLE, IRELAND – NOV 21
Tickets for this year’s Irish Decompression (Smokin’ Craic! ’09) are now on sale here:
http://irishdecompression.eventbrite.com
We’ll be celebrating, interacting with each other under the stars and creatively expressing ourselves from late afternoon on Saturday the 21st until early morning on Sunday the 22nd.
The admission is €25 and the number of tickets is strictly limited. When they’re sold out, we will not be able to allow entry to more people under any circumstances.
NO TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE GATE. YOU MUST PRE-PURCHASE TICKETS.
Please don’t arrive on the night expecting to get in. If you do, you’ll be sadly disappointed as we turn you away.
** Location Change **
Due to unfortunate circumstances unrelated to the event, the old location (Charleville Castle) is no longer available. Indeed, its future is under threat (more on that in another communiqué).
However, the good people of the Fingal County Arts Department and Fingal County Council have taken us under their wing.
The new venue is historic MALAHIDE CASTLE which dates back to the 12th century:
http://www.malahidecastle.com/history.asp
This location ( http://tinyurl.com/ylcjugl ) is within easy reach of the greater Dublin area transportation links. It is in the gorgeous setting of the West Lawn, part of the stunning Botanic Gardens there. There is enough parking for Cromwell’s Army (but they’re not invited), however public transport and ride-sharing is encouraged. More information is available in the Event Guide which you will access upon purchasing your ticket.
We need your help to make this event a success! Once you’ve bought your ticket, why not start thinking about how you can participate in Smokin Craic!? We know you are a mighty talented bunch and we encourage as many as possible to contribute to the event – creatively, materially, or in other ways with your time and energy. This is *your* community celebration. We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to be in this magical and special place – let’s make the most of it! Needed are volunteers for decoration, construction, signage, electrical, performance, greeting, MCing, Leave No Trace, lighting – and many other things. We also need donations of art, decorations, costumes & accoutrements, rugs, flooring, chairs, couches & cushions, etc. Got a truck or van? We can probably use that too.
Think of how you’d like to participate, what talents you have, what you’d like to give – then let us know by sending an email to ireland (at) burningman (dot) com .
Once again, to get your tickets while they’re hot, go here now!:
http://irishdecompression.eventbrite.com
See you on the 21st!

2ND ANNUAL SOUTHEAST DECOMPRESSION – ATLANTA, GA – NOV 21-22
When: November 21, 2pm, through November 22. YES, two days!
Where: Colaboratory – 825 Warner St., Atlanta
Cost: $10 presales, $20 at the gate
More info: www.southeastdecompression.com
What is a “Decompression?”
Before our heads have stopped spinning from Burning Man and the various regional burns, we gather to “decompress” by taking one more communal plunge into the depths of what we found so affirming and memorable about this year’s Burn season.
Decompression is an opportunity to dust off and share again the art, performances, theme camps, photos, videos and stories from all the Burn events; to re-connect with family and friends; and collaborate to create new art. It is, at its simplest, a reunion. But more significantly, it is a thoroughly participatory celebration of art and community, and a gentle reminder of all we have seen and done. And it is one of the more powerful ways many of us bring some of what is so inspiring about Burning Man and our beloved regionals to our cities for the rest of the year!
Theme camps are welcome and encouraged! We will have room for you to set up theme camps and let you do what you do best.
Gates open at 2pm on Saturday, November 21, and close on Sunday, November 22, at 12pm. That’s right! This is an overnight event. Feel free to bring your tent and camp in the gated property. We should also have limited inside space for camping.
This year the Decompression will be held at Colaboratory (825 Warner St., Atlanta). This is a new community co-laboratory space that you should definitely check out. Run by Burners, for Burners and WITH Burners!
Costs:
——
Presales for the event will be $10
Door sales will be $20
Presale invites are highly encouraged. Not only will you save money, but you help us put more money into the event up front to help cover the costs. As always, all accounting will be transparent at the end of the event, so you can see how we spent your cash!
When you buy a presale invite you will receive a Gate Code that you will need to get in. Your Paypal receipt is not enough. You must have your gate code.
Presales begin on October 19, and will conclude on November 19. Get your tickets, and further information, at:
