{============================================================} =======================INTRODUCTION========================= {============================================================}

**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/** We hope your decompression process is going about as well as you could hope for (we know it ain’t easy). To help smooth your way, we’ve got listings for upcoming Decompression events, a great post about how to make life more like Burning Man like ALL THE TIME, and if you need to just drop in and tune out, a listing of some great DJ sets from the playa this year (we’re listening to some great ones as we write … they really keep you in the move and groove).

There are two particular pieces to which we’d like to direct your attention, and that’s a) Justin Jones’s really excellent “Radical Travel” podcast about Burning Man (you’ll find it in the Photos Video and Audio section), and b) Leah Lamb’s article “Partying for Planet and Dancing with God” (found in the Writings section). Both of these are guaranteed to trip your trigger.

Finally, if you’d like to follow along as the Playa Restoration crew continues their heroic, Herculean efforts to rid every last trace of Black Rock City from the Black Rock Desert (and document how YOUR camp did), well then … here ya go:

http://blog.burningman.com/tag/moop-map-live-2012/

Oh and hey, we miss you guys! We hope to see you out at SF Decompression … there’s a LOT going on in town that weekend, so be sure to plan your travel carefully.

The Man burns in 334 days (though it feels like tomorrow)!

FOLLOW THE MOOP MAP LIVE!

The Playa Restoration Crew are out on playa AS WE SPEAK picking up the last remnants of Black Rock City 2012, and tracking which camps were naughty and which were nice (e.g. good at their Leave No Trace efforts). Lucky for you, The Hun is documenting the process together with Vertumnus’s incredible photography so you can follow along at home via the Burning Blog.

See how your camp did! See how your neighbors did! See how we ALL did!

Remember folks, if we don’t Leave No Trace, BURNING MAN DOESN’T HAPPEN ON THE BLACK ROCK DESERT ANYMORE. So this is serious stuff, and these people are killing it out there, so we can do it again next year … and the year after that ….

Brody compiled this collection of old-school Burning Man traditions that either run the risk of going the way of the dodo, or had to by necessity. Thanks to the old-timers on the Burning Man staff for contributing their fondest memories of how it used to be.

DID YOU GET FED BY BRC WHEELS ON MEALS?

New for 2012 was BRC Wheels on Meals. Created and organized by Dazzle!, this small but mighty group of 7 fed over 450 art crew team members on playa during build week. Our menu was simple…microwave meals, pudding cups and ice cream but our motto is what set us apart. “”Go ahead and eat, we’ll work on your project”” resulted in many opportunities for us to help artists. We not only fed people, we also helped build, fixed equipment, moved materials, offered advice and even went on a run to Gerlach for supplies. If you were fed by us, helped by us or have pictures, we’d love to hear from you. Visit our facebook page at:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/BRCWheelsOnMeals/?ref=ts

We look forward to feeding you again next year!

PLAYUZZLE – INTERACTIVE PUZZLE AT SF DECOMPRESSION

Playuzzle – the Interactive Walk-Through Playa Puzzle – Join the team! Meet the artist at Decompression!

Playuzzle is a 4,000 sq ft interactive puzzle with 16 lighted towers. As you walk between them (breaking an IR beam) and/or press the buttons and switches located in the field of towers, you have made a “”move”” and the tower colors will change. Participants try to figure out what each move does and then solve the puzzle.

We’ll have one sample tower to show at SF Decompression. Come by and meet the artist, and if you like, join the Team! We have 26 Key roles to fill, ranging from serious time commitments to small ones. Or, if you want to help without taking on a Key responsibility, sign up to join one of the teams.

Look for the 9-foot high, 4-foot square, lighted tower with the EL-wire outline.

SOULFIRE SOUTH BAY DECOMPRESSION – LOS GATOS, CA – OCTOBER 12-14

Pre-registration is now open for SoulFire, the South Bay regional’s 3-day, 2-night decompression event just outside of Los Gatos.

Plan to celebrate for the full weekend with your new burner friends, and help us to re-create a bit of the playa before you shake out your tent one last time. Bring your favorite 2012 SWAG, bring your new favorite playa cocktail, and bring your dusty selves. Share the new talents you learned while out there, and lead a workshop or activity. Show off your dustiest piece of clothing!

We especially invite you to bring the spirit of art and participation to your own regional event. Or, schedule a workshop for any topic under the sun (“How I Survived My Virgin Year”? “How To Talk Pirate On A Sunken Ship”?) If you are interested in participating in SoulFire with your theme camp, have an art piece you would like to display, or want to schedule a workshop, we do have a number of comps available to support your efforts. Please send an email to southbay (at) burningman (dot) com with the subject “Placement”, and you’ll be in the SoulFire What/Where/When!

We’ll need greeters, placement help, rangers, DJs, and YOU sharing your happiest playa memories.
