So You Want to Work for Burning Man!
It takes a special kind of human to want to work for Burning Man Project — that’s the nonprofit that produces Black Rock City and supports the global Burning Man culture and community. We’re grateful for your curiosity and desire to contribute.
We’re based out of offices in San Francisco, Reno, and Gerlach, though many of our folks work remotely from around the United States. We enthusiastically encourage Black, Indigenous, Peoples of Color, LGBTQIA+, immigrant, formerly incarcerated applicants, female-identified individuals, and people with disabilities, of all ages, to apply.
Burning Man Project is an organization that supports personal growth and co-learning. We offer extended benefits, access to mentorship, a smorgasbord of educational resources, and endless opportunities to deepen connections within the vibrant Burning Man community.
Year-round Staff and Seasonal Event Staff
A year-round team of dedicated humans plans and produces the Burning Man event in Black Rock City. But that’s not all we do; we support global Burning Man culture and community through programs, content, and administration.
Black Rock City’s annual event cycle picks up momentum every spring. This coincides with our hiring cycle for seasonal event staff — administration, technology, and Department of Public Works crews — who are active between May and October.
Working in Black Rock City
It’s a huge lift to support a temporary city in one of the world’s most inhospitable environments. Depending on the team, role, and skill set, many of our staff work during the event in Black Rock City. Seeing and being a part of building the city from the ground up is a memorable experience. Volunteers Are Staff, Too!
Whether you volunteer, are employed seasonally, or full time — you are part of our staff. Many of our year-round employees began as volunteers. Similarly, many employees who no longer work for Burning Man Project continue to volunteer in Black Rock City and beyond. Volunteer for Burning Man.
