**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/** Welcome to February, everybody! If you were one of the many who bought tickets for Burning Man in the last few weeks, you should start to see your tickets coming in the mail pretty soon here, and then LET THE REJOICING BEGIN, PEOPLE!
Ahem.
We do enjoy thinking about people doing a little happy dance in their living rooms when they open the envelope. The ticket artwork this year is particularly beautiful, as it always is. We’ve got a blog post coming up soon about the artist and his process. We’ll let you know when that’s up.
Speaking of the blog, we’ve got a gaggle of new contributors, including Jon Mitchel and John “Halcyon” Styn … and more coming soon, including book reviews, explorations of Burning Man culture in the world, philosophical discussions around the 10 Principles (http://bit.ly/4Natu), a blog series about rites of passage, and more.
So watch for that … in the meantime, as we approach the Burnal Equinox (the furthest point between Burns, and thus the proverbial “coldest” point of the year) here’s a truly heartwarming set of photographs of couples in love at Burning Man, taken by RJ Kern:
Keep the home fires burning!

TICKET UPDATE
Tickets for Burning Man 2011 went on sale on Wednesday, January 19th, and if you’d like to buy tickets, they’re available on our ticketing page at http://tickets.burningman.com.
We’ve also started up our low income and scholarship ticket programs, which provide low cost tickets to those in need. There’s an application process involved … information about how to apply is available on our tickets page. If you’re going to apply, be sure to watch the deadlines, and get your application in sooner rather than later! Yes, really.
Since launch day, we’ve been working closely with In Ticketing, our ticketing partner, to sort out exactly what happened when things went pear-shaped, how many people were affected, and exactly how. In the meantime, the In Ticketing folks have been going through their customer support queue, helping out folks who were directly and obviously affected on a case-by-case basis, communicating with each of them personally (which can take time, please be patient).
Finally, if you ever have an issue with your ticket purchase, contact the In Ticketing customer support crew at http://tickets.burningman.com/contact and use the pull-down menu to select your topic … they’ll help you out.

NEW BURNING MAN HOMEPAGE BLOG WIDGET!
We’re proud to announce the launching of our nifty new cycling blog widget thingy on the homepage of www.burningman.com … it’s our way of giving you a peek into what’s happening in the Burning Blog every time you visit the website. Cool, huh? We thought so.
Check it out for yourself. You know the URL … say it with me now:
www.burningman.com
Big thanks to Burning Man’s intrepid tech team for making this happen, particularly Michael “Seriously, Don’t Call Me Vinny” Barbarino, Dwell, Loopy and Masha. Collectively, hey kicked some tech butt.

MEET THE TICKET DESIGNER
If you bought your tickets already, you’ve probably gotten your ticket in the mail, or are about to. It’s a pretty incredible ticket design this year, and we thought you might be interested in learning about the artist, Andrew Jones.
So blam, here ya go … a little piece in the Burning Blog. Enjoy:

2010 BLACK ROCK YEARBOOK IS OUT!
Yay! Yearbook! Doug writes:
“The 2010 Black Rock Yearbook has arrived! This is our biggest one yet, 140 Pages and thousands of pictures! We’ve reorganized the website to make it easier and this we have high AND low rez PDF’s of the yearbook for you to download.
www.blackrockyearbook.com
What is the yearbook? The Black Rock Yearbook is open for shooting on the playa in center camp circle and at LA Decom every year. We take your Black Rock High yearbook photo so you don’t have to. The Yearbook is expanded this year with more theme camps, more photos of art and more of you.
Can’t find your photo? We generally don’t edit someone out of the yearbook, if your photo is missing, it was by accident. Most commonly you were simply renamed, it happens, late at night… more often than we’d like to admit. If you email us to help you find it, please include what name you gave us and any other info you can remember: who took your picture? when? It might even help if you give us a photo of what you look like.
Want to include your camp in 2011 Yearbook? Email us and we’ll coordinate a group shot on the playa: info (at) blackrockyearbook (dot) com We will start collecting names and contact you as we get closer to playa.
enjoy!

YOUR ULTIMATE BURNING MAN MUSIC PORTAL
The Rock Star Librarian publishes the ultimate music guide every year, and she’s asked us to help her out with a little project she’s working on … she says:
“If you could visit just one Web site to listen to and read about Burning Man music, what content and features would you want it to include? Discussion boards, social connectivity, DJ & musician sites, interviews, music downloads, year-round events calendar?
I know you’ve got opinions. So come on, participate and tell me, fine BRC citizens! Let’s take it to the next level. Please respond to my survey. Here it is:

HELP “THE PEOPLE OF BURNING MAN” BOOK FLOURISH
Photographer Julian Cash of Supersnail Camp has been taking wonderful and bizarre color studio portraits on the playa for nearly a decade. His images, in fact, have long graced the walls of the Burning Man office. The images have been compiled into a book that beautifully shares the people, spirit, and creativity of our event.
Julian’s Kickstarter drive to publish the book has been succesfully funded, which is great, but he’s now looking for more money to promote and make more books. Help support this worthy project! Julian says:
“We want to spread the word farther than just the Burner community. This book was created to do more than just tell the story of Burning Man to Burners. This book encourages freedom, self-expression, participation, and a wide variety of important counterculture values. This book is intended to help spread our values to the world.
In reaching our 25K goal, we’ve met the cost of printing. What else is there to do? Guerrilla marketing. Sending out and hand delivering books far and wide to people in places where they will have the most impact or influence. Also, more funds may make it so that we can print more books.
All of this is extremely exciting!!!! The book will get printed. The next step is making it so this book is pervasive and as influential as possible.
“A Burning Man bible” – John ‘Halcyon’ Styn
“Profoundly influential. A classic. A visually glorious, fun, sexy celebration” – Dr. Annie Sprinkle, sex activist
“Having watched Julian Cash at work, I remain baffled. Exactly how does he elicit these effects? The man is a magician. ” – Larry Harvey
“Penetrates deep into the human psyche.” –Fakir Musifar, father of the Modern Primitive Movement
