{============================================================} =================== WELCOME HOME !! ======================== {============================================================}

**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/** Well, What the hell just happened? What did we all just do, and I mean ALL of YOU! You know who you are. Pat yourselves on the back for bringing the best mojo ever to the Black Rock Desert. DAMN, you’re good!

WAIT, Watch this and try not to get choked up!Okay YES, it’s sappy, but isn’t that ‘kinda’ how you’re feeling right now? 😉 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQPQn9TLpPY

Nature did her part and offered up a pristine surface not seen since 1996, and down right agreeable weather that no newbie should think is at all normal. What about that white out that lasted all day? Yeah, we know, didn’t have one.

Brilliant art, certainly helped in its scope by the extensive use of crowd sourcing for funding.

There were some epic pieces of art the likes of which we’ve never seen before. Theme Camps off the hook like we’ve not experienced since 2000 before the dot-com bubble burst. Jack Rabbits are animals with sensitive ears so we’re not typically a big fan of thumping art cars, but there sure were some pretty epic beasts throwing down the beats!

Sometimes the best moments are the small ones, like the vintage stainless steel water fountain (on little wheels) that shyly followed you and then nudged you to take a drink, and wouldn’t take “no-thanks” for an answer!

Yes, we know there is some strong feedback about ingress and egress waits. We’re aware of ways to improve the situation, your comments are still welcome, see below.

Best World Wide BRC collaborative project: – The Temple
Best use of 300 onsite citizens/slaves – Moving the Trojan Horse 100 Yards
Best City Design – Rod Garrett – RIP (he also designed the Man Base, First Camp and the Center Camp Cafe)

Now that you’re back at home, get out and do it yourselves. Check in with your local geographically desirable Burning Man community. http://regionals.burningman.com> We even have a Regional Contact in the Czech Republic! And, if you’re curious about what we’re up to at HQ? We’re getting ready for our post-event retreats, strategizing for 2012 ticket sales, and supporting the Burning Man Project as it begins to take off: http://www.burningmanproject.org

This JRS comes to you as a collaboration between team JACK RABBIT SPEAKS: Rabbits Andie Grace and Maid Marian want to congratulate Rabbit Will Chase and wife Katie for the birth of their daughter: Ellaven Kathryn Chase 8:44 am: 9.10.11! 7 lbs. 11 oz.

~ The Jack Rabbits have Spoken!

(no jack rabbits were harmed in writing this missive, thanks to Cat at BMan Tech HQ for clearing the fur ball that had the JRS stuck in moderation for a few days and almost had us cutting off our own paw in frustration)

SO, WHAT’S THE 2012 ART THEME??

It was only 5 years ago that Larry first conceived of and wrote the theme BEFORE the Man fell on that year to announce the theme for the following year. Black Rock City 2011 was fantastic and the theme for next year is great, but sometimes sorting out the exact language to inspire us all takes more time.

There is a theme, it’s being written as we speak. Stay tuned. It’ll be soon.

**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**

FEEDBACK LOOP: TELL US WHAT YOU THINK!

It’s time for the HQ staff to debrief from Burning Man 2011, and we want your feedback about your Burning Man experience to factor into our planning for 2012 (yes, Burning Man is happening in 2012)!

We also want to hear about your experience as you traveled through Empire and Gerlach, also any comments on vendors (RV?) or businesses in Reno or the area that provided services or supplies to you.

Email

While we’re always open to your feedback, we’ll be closing up the formal 2011 Feedback Loop process on October 19th to head into our debrief meetings.

Note: we do respond to some feedback emails with personal responses, but even though we do read them all, we don’t respond to every message personally. Those subjects that generate a lot of public comment are addressed in the Q&A section of the annual Afterburn Report.

Detailed info here:

LOST AND FOUND

Did you lose something on playa and want it back? Find something, and want to return it to its rightful owner? Don’t despair – hundreds of happy Burner-and-stuff reunions have been successfully achieved post-event, so check here before you call your beloved possession gone for good:

POST-PLAYA TIPS

You’re back in the real world. You’re staring blankly at the wall. Then you glance furtively at the pile of playafied camping gear, wigs, and tutus crammed in the corner of your room. Then you stare at the wall some more. Until the vision of your playa dust-encrusted car crosses your mind. You wince.

“Where do I start?” you wonder.

It’s OK. We’ve assembled a collection of helpful post-playa tips to help you clean your stuff, your car, yourself, even your brain. We’ve even got some tips about getting yourself ready for next year. Yep, this is us, loving you.

http://www.burningman.com/preparation/event_survival/postplaya.html

Here’s a nice article we came across about how to cope with post-playa depression – maybe it’s up your alley:

http://antranik.org/dealing-with-post-playa-depression-burning-man-i-love-you/

And a pretty funny (because it’s true) one, entitled “Do not divorce your parakeet yet”:

https://lists.burningman.com/pipermail/portland-list/2010-September/010955.html

This page is linked from there, but we think it’s probably one of the more important points: one great cure for post-playa blues is to connect with other Burners. Here’s how:

**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**

LAW ENFORCEMENT FEEDBACK

Did you have or witness an encounter with law enforcement on the playa? Whether it was positive or negative, we want to know about it.

We use this information to work year round with law enforcement officers to improve our relations, improve their interactions with our community, and ensure your constitutional and civil rights are being protected while in Black Rock City.

Take a moment to download, fill out and mail us a Law Enforcement Feedback Form (PDF), here: http://www.burningman.com/on_the_playa/le_feedback.html

We received a number of good reports this year. Keep them all coming!

**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**

LAWYERS FOR BURNERS

If you got arrested or received a citation on playa, don’t feel like you’re in it alone. A grassroots, volunteer organization called Lawyers For Burners may be able to help you out with finding a lawyer and/or legal advice. Visit their website for more information:

http://www.lawyersforburners.com

TIP: to contact LFB, fill out their Feedback Form (linked from the left hand column), and they’ll be in touch.

**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**

GOT TICKET ISSUES?

If you’ve got a ticketing issue that needs to be resolved, read our Frequently Asked Questions to figure out how to proceed:

http://tickets2.burningman.com/faq.php

… and if you need to contact us about it, go here:

http://tickets.burningman.com/contact

HEY, going to BRC in 2012? If you wanna get tickets for next year? Stay tuned to the JRS! You’re guaranteed a different system for 2012 and you don’t want to get caught unaware and without a ticket, now do you?

SATELLITE PICTURE OF BLACK ROCK CITY 2011

The GeoEye-1 satellite flew over Black Rock City, and took a picture of Black Rock City during the event on Thursday at 11:49am. It’s quite a sight.

Here’s a direct link to a high-resolution version of the shot they took for you to download and play with:

http://files.me.com/adjohnstone/8jlm19

Now, for you satellite nerds, just know that “GeoEye-1 has the highest resolution of any commercial imaging system and can collect images with a ground resolution of 0.41-meters or 16 inches in the panchromatic or black and white mode. It collects multispectral or color imagery at 1.65-meter resolution or about 64 inches, a factor of two better than existing commercial satellites with four-band multispectral imaging capabilities. While the satellite collects imagery at 0.41-meters, GeoEye’s operating license from the U.S. Government requires re-sampling the imagery to 0.5-meter for all customers not explicitly granted a waiver by the U.S. Government.”

We’re sure that all means something very important. For more information, if that just wasn’t enough for you, visit:

BURNING MAN 2011 PHOTO GALLERY FROM NEIL “MR. NIGHTSHADE” GIRLING

One of the finest photographers perennially on the playa, we’re smart enough to put Neil Girling in prime position to capture many of the best moments at Burning Man through his masterful lens … and he has once again outdone himself. Here’s Neil’s gallery from Burning Man 2011:

No point in turning the Decompression Chamber on and totally ruining that buzz. So, keep the energy alive, reconnect post playa and maybe turn a playa-timid friend onto Burning Man with a Decompression party.

Regional areas also have campouts and community projects throughout the year. Check out http://regionals.burningman.com, join your nearest, geographically convenient Burning Man announcement or discussion list – it’s more than just events, it’s a portal to hundreds of local communities! VANCOUVER DECOMPRESSION – VANCOUVER CANADA – OCTOBER 1

Each year, hundreds of dusty participants return from a magical week in the desert and begin the difficult process of re-entry into the Default World. We have experienced something nearly impossible to explain, yet the cosmic shifts inside of us are not reflected in the world around us. Friends, family and co-workers expect us to be the same, but we are not the same. We long to escape the confines of our daily existence, but we,Aeore stuck in the patterns of our lives for another, long, year.

The decompression process culminates in the opportunity to re-create our experience for one night, here on our home turf. Here, we can share our experience, celebrate our personal transformation and officially make the transition back to life as we know it. We can also party with 400 of our closest friends, and check out some of Vancouver’s best Burning Man art, music, theme camps, performances, activities, costumes and revelry.
