The mission of our theme camp is to increase nighttime safety in BRC by reducing the number of injuries and damage caused by collisions with inadequately lit burners, bikes and structures. Each participant approached will be treated with respect, kindness and love. We will be gifting lights to dark burners and their bikes, etc., engage in community outreach efforts to increase awareness and promote self-reliant mindfulness about the importance of remaining visible at night, encourage re-usable and renewable, highly visible lighting options, and discourage one-time use, moop-generating forms of lighting (i.e. glow sticks).

Our camp this year is inspired by the 2003 movie “The Triplets of Belleville.”
Our installation will center around one scene in particular. In the scene, 4 Tour de France cyclists, abducted by the mafia, are smuggled into an underground gambling ring. Each cyclist is put onto a bike-like machine in front of a crowd of bettors. Each machine drives a miniature statue; the faster the cyclist pedals, the farther the statue goes along the “course”. In the film, whenever a statue falls behind, the cyclist powering him is “taken out back” and you hear a loud bang.
We’ll be recreating this scene. You can ride up, hook up your bike, and see if you can get your horse to the finish line first. Any cyclists that fall behind will be “taken out back” and shot with a water gun.
To the side of the main event, we’ll have a playa dome where cyclists can change into vintage jerseys. We’ll even have an area for anyone who wants to shave their legs like a TRUE CYCLIST.

So we here at Camp Dusty Justice are celebrating that practice and bringing an open, slightly impartial, fun venue for Burners of all stripes to get their dusty dirty day in court. Bring your case! You will be heard! Is it your noisy neighbor? (we had one!) Did your best childhood friend make out with your girlfriend? (a real issue from last year) Did a campmate drink your last cold beer? The Dusty Pineapple is home to the “DP”, which ventures out at sunset to the farthest corners of the deep Playa to provide wandering burners the joy of discovering a tiny oasis of light, groovy jams, and camaraderie where it’s least expected. The DP does not disclose their locations in the deep Playa or timing (but if you hang out at camp, we may give you a clue). Rather, we prefer to be that moment you find by chance.
