1001 Nights

1001 nights is a haven to nomadic folk who journey from all lengths of the world.

Togetherness is our purpose. Our intentions are to bring part of middle eastern heritage and culture to the playa. Generosity and sociability are the beauty of this culture and we invite whoever to be part of it, indulge as royalty and enjoy traditional offerings to share lovely connections under our dome. We welcome all as if inviting visitors into our homes and our hearts.

Our stories represent us and our project, Makateeb, is our flagship. Makateeb stems from the Arabic word “Makatoob” which means “written”. Through it, we provide an immersive and warm environment capturing some middle eastern hospitality of communing and sharing experiences with each other through hand-written letters.

3SP (Third Space Place)

3SP (Third Space Place) is your dusty, comfy front porch/living room combo serving as a Black Rock City “third space” — a relaxing, community space offering a real sense of welcome and belonging beyond your dwelling (“first space”) and your place of work (“second space”). As with any true community space, guests can just stop by, chill out, ask for directions, chat, or participate in one of 3SP’s events focusing on all kinds of issues: being introverted on Playa; navigating the world as a stutterer/stammerer; identifying unconscious biases; Native-American acculturation and land/water stewardship; handling shame/vulnerability, and more. We’ve been around since 2015 and we’ve got campers from DC, NYC, Minneapolis, Portland, LA, and beyond. Come on by!
