Mazu Camp from Taiwan offers Burners: Wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. In the East, the five elements of nature mutually balance & interact with one another and are a way of life in traditional Chinese medicine for wellness. The different elements correspond to colors and internal organs: wood is blue, corresponding to the liver; fire is Red, corresponding to the heart; earth is yellow, corresponding to the spleen; and metal is white, corresponding to the lungs.

The title comes from Mebuyan, a goddess from Filipino mythology, specifically the Bagobo mythology, a large indigenous peoples of southern Mindanao, Philippines.
She’s a goddess of life and death, of the afterlife, traditionally represented as a woman living underground, sitting on a wooden mortar, with breasts covering her entire body. She is said to be nourishing the dead spirits of children in the afterlife, so that they can
grow up and continue on their journey to adulthood.
Banua Mebuyan is the mythological town where she lives cares for these spirits. The camp is the HQ for Mebuyan Vessel, a large scale installation in deep playa, who aims to be a nourishing, transformative, and cosmic place for citizens of Black Rock City for their personal and collective growth.

MVC is staffed by the creators of the eight-foot, LED illuminated, motorized, sound-infused Burner Boards (surfboards) you may have seen riding across the playa…. You might even get a ride!
