2002 Theme Camps

Earth Guardian Camp

Welcome to this year’s Earth Guardian pavilion. We’re hoping to stimulate the Burning Man community to appreciate the Black Rock environment and embrace Leave No Trace in their own creative ways this year. By focusing the community’s tremendous artistic, technical and spiritual energy, we can go beyond no trace and leave positive traces on the land. We will have daily activities including: daily (9:30 am) camp and volunteer meeting, daily (10:00 am) yoga classes, afternoon performances by puppet, circus and musical groups. Classes on didgeridoo and drumming. Nature walks, hot spring patrols, trash fence patrols, daily (4:00 pm) transect walks, camp of the day tours.

Our camp will include an interpretive walk, a discussion lounge and library of environmental books, the Oasis cafe and Water Bar and a stage. The interpretive walk can be described as an interactive, self-guided 24/7 attraction that includes information on the Black Rock desert, its history, Leave No Trace practices and desert stewardship activities. It is an introduction and tribute to the Black Rock Desert and an examination of our roles in the desert.

Easter Island

EASTER ISLAND is imagined as a south sea ceremonial village supporting on-playa installations of MOAI, the enigmatic stone HEADS of Rapa Nui. It’s a candy-coated fusion of indigenous idolatry and contemporary commercialism.

Eclectic Playa Tribe

A camp where lovely multi-talented individuals gather to form a community… a family… a home. We are artists, geeks, educators, performers, healers, divas, would-be chefs, former postulants — all positively insane, beautiful and dusty. We’ll have a giant fish shade structure/lounge and some of the most incredible peeps you’ll ever meet. Come as your eclectic selves at the EPT cocktail party on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002.

Elfenland

Keeblers with codpieces, Hobbits with hard-ons, and mystical Celtic warrior-fairies, we offer small-scale art and costuming, and medium-scale comfort to all those who pass by the Elfenhold.

Enchanted Forest

The Enchanted Forest together with The Last Stand is a place far off, a frame of mind, a zone in the twilight, a refuse, a barrier, an island of the last stand. It’s a jungle, shelter, and storm of interaction for the visual, audio, and sensory perceptions with light shows, sunrise and sunset concerts of music and dance. We will create a jungle of dozens of trees and sculpture that will offer picture frames to assist your imagination of perception coupled with evening lights shows and specialized music concerts for sunrises, sunsets, and whatever you fancy between.

Enchanted Forest

Fairies and goblins alike are welcome at Enchanted Forest.

Engedi

Engedi is a tent filled with the smells, sights, and sounds of heaven. Come experience the Source of the river in the desert.

Evening Lounge on Cleopatra's Barge

Come hang out, take a break from the playa madness, escape from the sun, relax on our couches, and share experiences with other burners on Cleopatra’s Barge. Get the Man on your t-shirt, race a juice boat down the Nile, gather treasure, and have slaves fan you and care for your weary feet while enjoying the soothing sounds of our magnificent DJ’s.
