Habitat for Insanity

ate novel burner technology and use it to bring new experiences to Black Rock City. This includes pizza ovens of our own design, shave ice machines, and HVAC/refrigeration adaptations for our new installation “The Tundra.” We also bring Live Karaoke and Daytime Talks to the playa.

Hack-a-Cola

A visit to Hack-a-Cola is a reprieve from the heat empowered by a sampling of a wide variety of unique, handcrafted flavors of soda. Hand us a cup and we’ll mix cold carbonated water with one or more of our syrups to make a refreshing soda on the spot. We may even put a scoop of ice cream in your soda to make it a float! We tweak our recipes and invent new flavors throughout the week. Inquisitive visitors can learn how to fulfill their own soda making dreams with the guidance of our knowledgeable, helpful soda jerks. We aim to provide a welcoming space where everyone will feel comfortable to stay a while and enjoy the company under our plentiful shade.

Half Baked

Make Shrink-Art Jewelry (necklaces/pendants, earrings, keychains, bike tags, etc.) using our solar ovens. Tuesday-Saturday, Noon-2PM. All art supplies and solar ovens will be provided. Walk away with some cool, self-made swag, along with a greater understanding of the wonderful world of solar cooking. Come bake with us!!

Hammered and Sickled

Hammered and Sickled is an international camp compromised of members from 30 plus countries of origins. We run a flavored Vodka bar as well as other libations and our mantra is “No one leaves our bar thirsty or walking in a straight line”. We offer the weary desert travelers an oasis where they can take a break, relax and kick their shoes off. Our campers come from different corners of the world, backgrounds and offer a variety of insights and opinions to liven up any conversation. We have our in house DJ’s spinning lounge and mashups through out the day.

We are Happy Hanuman, a mutant vehicle support camp. We hail from all over the world to bring our imagination to the Playa in the form of Mutant Vehicles. A rag-tag bunch of geologists and crystal healers with a passion for sharing geology – including the geology of the Black Rock Desert! Join our geologists for rock talks, get creative with rock painting, walk our labyrinth to explore the geological timeline of the earth and discover our place in it. Harmonic Drift

The crew of Harmonic Drift brings a one-of-a-kind mobile, participatory musical experience that brings out your inner child to unite us in the magic of improvised music. Inspired by Balinese gamelan, our unique instrument pantheon of aluminum plate gongs, pipe bells, and found object percussion instruments, awaits your touch and imagination. Find us drifting around playa with our mobile instrument and shadow puppet carts. And check out our shadow-puppet-inspired puzzle & story installation called “Adventures in Shadowland” in Center Camp.

HAVANA NIGHTS

Experience the essence of a vibrant Latin dance party infused with the relaxed vibe of Miami. Encircled by palm trees, our spacious, shaded dance floor beckons. Relax on our plush, elevated chill pads or sway in hammocks. Savor the night with bottomless, hand-muddled frozen mojitos served by attendants in traditional guayabera shirts as world-class DJs deliver an electrifying mix of Cuban and Latin rhythms. Come celebrate the motherly figure in your life, whoever that may be! We provide stationary, stamps, and polaroid pictures to help you write a letter home to Mom, which we then mail from the BRC post office. Hooter Tooterville is a small art support camp dedicated to bringing fun and original art to the Playa. This year’s Honoraria art installation is called “The Teetering Trail of Tooter”, a fun 25′ long trail of teeters powering a wall of musical pipes and fun things to look at.

Horny Camp

Horny Camp is an arts & crafts camp with a cheeky, sexy twist. Our crafts can be appropriate for everybody, from children to the childish (but pervy) at heart. Our main craft is horn making; we teach our guests to mold polymer clay to create little horns to wear on their heads. We also offer spicy vodka tasting, dirty pornogami, & creating little crotch critters to wear around your waist.
