BRC Storage Program

Welcome to the Black Rock City Storage Program!

Instead of hauling infrastructure back and forth between Black Rock City (BRC) and far away places, with loading and unloading on both ends, BRC Storage participants can focus more of their time, funds, and creative juices on building art, forging community, and designing incredible experiences to be shared with others at Burning Man (and beyond).

BRC Storage will significantly reduce Burning Man’s collective carbon footprint, as well as traffic and wear-n-tear on local roads.

Participants in BRC Storage are welcome and encouraged to visit their belongings throughout the year!

Things get a little quieter out here in the fall and winter. Staff capacity is limited, so replies might take a little longer — thank you for your patience! If you truly need urgent access, we’ll do our best to work with you. Please also keep in mind: The 360 will be closed on major holidays and reopens on February 29, 2026.

Visiting your Stored Container or Mutant Vehicle

We’re committed to connecting participants with their infrastructure!

Planning ahead for the season? Primary and secondary contacts can now begin scheduling visits to The 360—and they can authorize campmates to visit, too.

BRC Storage requires 2 weeks’ notice for all appointments to ensure someone is available to receive you and that access to your container isn’t blocked. If it is, this window gives us time to coordinate with our heavy equipment team. The last day to visit your stored items will be July 6.

Waitlists

We appreciate the community’s enthusiasm for the program and patience as we expand capacity.

We welcomed 21 new containers in 2025 and look forward to bringing more containers in the future.

Folks are invited to participate in the order that requests are received, so sign up to get on the waitlist.

Be advised: The waitlist may be 2 to 3 years for containers and vehicles.

Storage Program Answers

Should I add a second contact to my storage account?

Adding a second contact to your storage account means they can help coordinate visits, updates, and logistics—teamwork makes the dream work!

To add a second contact, the primary contact can send a message to brcstorage@burningman.org with their name, container number, and the name, email address and phone number for the second contact.

There are a few times during the year when communications are sent only to the primary contact. In those cases, the primary contact can forward the message to the secondary to take any action as needed.

If the transfer is between current members of the same camp, there’s no fee. If the container is going to someone from a different camp, the new camp must first be vetted and approved by Placement to ensure they’re in good standing. If approved, the transfer is finalized with a one-time $350 fee.

Please note: transferring a container to someone in a different camp does not automatically enroll that new camp in the BRC Storage Program. Approval from Placement is required before any transfer can be completed.

To kick things off, the current owner just needs to start an email thread with brcstorage@burningman.org and the new intended owner copied in. Once the new owner replies-all to confirm their interest, we’ll send over the paperwork for both parties to sign.

Selling your container? Great! The process is the same—just make sure to include the buyer in the email thread so we can get the ball rolling.

We’d really appreciate receiving any ownership or camp name changes by May 23, 2026. This gives us time to update your contracts and coordinate with Placement so everyone’s on the same page before the season kicks into gear.

By default, all containers are scheduled for delivery to Black Rock City. If you want your container(s) transported—great! No action is needed. The system is opt-out only.

If you do not want your container(s) transported and haven’t already submitted an opt-out, please reply directly to the BRC Storage email the container owner will receive. Container Transportation Opt-Out emails are sent at the beginning of April, followed by a reminder in late April. The final deadline to opt out of transportation is April 30.
