Who Needs a Burner Profile?
When you want to get more involved as a volunteer, a theme camp organizer, someone who comes early or stays late – or both, you’ll need a Burner Profile.
There are so many ways to get involved. You might find more than one.
What Can You Do With a Burner Profile?
You’ll need to log in or create a profile to access volunteer opportunities, fill out participation forms, and access learning resources.
Which Forms Do You Need?
You must submit a BRC Participation Form for approval if you would like to:
- Reserve a location for your camp at Black Rock City
- Receive permission to bring a Mutant Vehicle into Black Rock City for inspection
- Pre-register to bring an Accessibility Vehicle for a person with a physical disability to be able to drive during the event
- Register an Art Installation for placement on the open playa
- Apply as professional Media

Get Tickets in the Allocator
Some Black Rock City ticket programs like the Allocator – used by theme camp leads, mutant vehicle owners and Honoraria grantees – require a Burner Profile log-in to access the tool.
Spark Classifieds
The Spark digital bulletin board helps participants connect, share gear, and find volunteers or collaborators for theme camps, art installations, and mutant vehicles. You need a Burner Profile to post on Spark Classifieds.
Playa Events
The WhatWhereWhen started as a printed guide and now includes a website and API to connect participants in Black Rock City (BRC).
Participation Forms Key Dates and Deadlines
Placed Camp Questionnaire
Opens: February, 2027
Estimated application deadlines:
- March 2027: theme camps requesting placement on Esplanade, Avenues, Portals, or Plazas and all camps in HUBS
- April 2027: theme camps requesting placement in Streets and not in HUBS and for standalone support camps (art / mutant vehicle / civic / work)
We will accommodate and map camps through mid-June, but can’t guarantee location preference for late submissions. We’ll do our best to find the best spot possible.

This application is for Art Projects, Mutant Vehicles, Accessibility Vehicles, Theme Camps, and OSS Vendors. This fuel safety program allows these groups the ability to store as little fuel in their camps as possible.
BRC Temple Grant Proposal
Opens: Late April 2027
Closes: Early June 2027
We are no longer accepting Temple applications for Black Rock City 2027. This grant program will next be open for applications in the Spring of 2027 for the 2028 Burning Man event.
