Art Discovery experiences are offered by ARTery volunteers and were started as a way for Black Rock City citizens who have mobility challenges to experience highlights of the art on playa. We offer lots of options for you to explore the incredible art on playa.
Please stop by the ARTery at 6:30 and Esplanade or read through the details below if you are interested participating. The ARTery’s hours are 9am to 6pm every day (closed for meetings from 1-2pm) and we would love to see you!
Art Discovery on Mutant Vehicles for Mobility-challenged Participants
For mobility-challenged folks, we offer guided Art Discovery experiences on mutant vehicles that leave at 10:00am Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. They last 1.5 hours to 2 hours, weather permitting. Held on mutant vehicles that have generously donated their time to the tours, each tour has a guide who will facilitate the discovery experience. These tours will depart from Mobility Camp in the Center Camp Ring. Sign up at Mobility Camp. Mobility-challenged is defined as:
- People with health issues that affect their ability to get around
- Pregnant women
- Parents with small children
- Seniors
Bringing a companion to assist you is ok. Assistance will be available for boarding the mutant vehicles.

Tickets are not needed; just show up at the ADT signs and go along with your fellow art lovers for fun and discovery.
Art Discovery on Foot
Sunset guided walking tours go from 5:30-7:30pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It’s a great opportunity for photography during the magic hours for light. Meet in front of the ARTery at 6:30 and Esplanade; look for the guide with the pink Art Discovery flag.
Art Speaks
One of the many wonderful things about art at Burning Man is the opportunity to meet the artists alongside their work. At Art Speaks discover the inspiration & artistic process behind playa art! Each day features interviews and panel discussions about 3 different projects. Hear the stories from the artists themselves, learn about the materials they used, and what technologies they employed. Ask your own questions to the creators. Most importantly, learn the WHY and gain a deeper appreciation of the art. Interviews and discussions on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 3:00 – 4:30pm at the Center Camp Performance Stage.
