Black Rock City 2026: Axis Mundi

Black Rock City will rise once again from the Nevada desert, August 30 through September 7, 2026. The year’s event theme, Axis Mundi, celebrates the interconnectedness of our global community, the new social realities we are creating together, and our enduring ties to the natural world.

The people who populate this magical city are from everywhere, and everyone is welcome. If they share one thing it is a collective ethos of creativity and generosity known as the 10 Principles. Black Rock City requires a considerable amount of preparation, and it can be a lot more rewarding if you sign up for a volunteer team when you’re there. 

Participating in the Black Rock City event is nothing like going to a festival. There is no main stage, no vending, and no corporate sponsorship. You must bring everything with you that you will need to survive and thrive, and take everything that remains when you go.

However you choose to participate, at the end of August our Axis Mundi, the axle of our spinning world, will ascend from the desert in the form of a giant wooden Man, feet rooted in the dust and arms raised to the heavens. What will you bring?
